I’m busy working on the next big update to The Equestrian App for Farriers! I thought it would be nice to share the progress as I work towards launching these features the 1st week of January.
The Equestrian App is all about connecting people in the care and enjoyment of the horse and that includes all those equine businesses that support these horses. The first week of December of 2018 I released features for equine business that board horses. Within just a couple weeks, the signups for these boarding businesses has been fantastic with over 1,000 stalls being created and horses associated to them. The Equestrian App is helping these boarding businesses get staff all on the same page providing the best care for the horses in their barns alone with connecting them back to their owners that miss them. All these new boarding features are FREE too!
Here’s a customer quote:
“Patrick it is amazing! I’m so excited to get everyone on it! This is what I needed, I will be able to see what we have available and what is going on even if I’m not at the barn when someone inquires. I just need to work on getting the care providers on the app! You did a fantastic job and I appreciate how much of my input you chose to include, I hope it helps others as much as it will me.” VIP Equine
Now as I move onto the Farrier business, I’ve been creating custom calendars, horse lists, detailed visit history capture with pictures and a running history of visits with each horse. These are really powerful features for Farriers because it not only documents the visit and leave behind details horse owning customers with love, but it also provides a visit history so farriers are always in the know about every horse they care for.
Again, all these awesome features for Farriers will be FREE too! It goes with our mission of connecting everyone around the care and enjoyment of the horse.
New release today! I’m turning on features to support all the equine businesses out there within The Equestrian App. Today we released features for boarding facilities that will greatly increase the communication in the barn, provide the right feedings to each specific horses needs, along with special care instructions and emergency contact information for the horses. These features greatly increase the efficiencies in the barn along with providing the best care and services for our equine customers.
Coming soon features for Farriers, Trainers, Instructors and more!
Now the fun begins. For several months I’ve been laying the ground work of establishing an app that horse owners would use every week. Horses, Feeding, Care, Contacts, Connecting and Social features that allows equestrians to “Stay Connected” to each other and the horse. I know I’m on the right path as my 6 month registration goal has been 10x in growth already. The users of the app have voted with their downloads and use!
But now it is time to provide all those equine businesses with special features that allow them to connect to the owners and horses by providing a level of service and information the horse owners have never seen or had before! Seriously, being a boarding facility or a farrier or an instructor and providing an enhanced customer experience, at ZERO cost, is just plain smart business! Once everyone is connected around the horse, the data history from all the providers provides better care and health for the horse in the long term. And that’s our ultimate goal isn’t it?
Your customers will THANK YOU more and maybe even pay you more for this new and unexpected level of service.
When is it coming? Soon. Almost as fast as your horse coming to get a carrot.
Being a person that had and sold an #analytics company, I realized a long time ago on how important data is to a company, especially a #startup. A little over a month ago, I officially released The Equestrian App and let it settle for a couple weeks while the last few bugs where discovered.
Over the past 3 weeks, I’ve been spending more time focused on getting the word out and it is awesome to look at a map with the registrations on it. Looks like I’m doing a heck of a job in the pacific northwest where I live! And, I’m getting close to getting a person in every state too! The amazing thing to watch is people using the app inviting other people to use it and connect to their horses.
I’ve been very focused on the United States of course, but the app is now being used in 12 other countries included Xàbia, Africa. I love it! Just amazing to see something you personally create being installed and used around the world in providing better care for horses. We ring the dinner bell every time there is a new user in a new country and state!
Enjoy the ride!
I’ve been having a great time building an app around a passion that I have, horses. But why build an app for Equestrians and is there a business there? Yes there is and let me tell you why.
I grew up on a farm in Minnesota and was around all kinds of animals including horses. As a small boy, the horses where big animals that were always curious and fun to be around. Then we moved to the city and left the farm life behind. That farm and country life never left my mind and after successful career in technology I’ve been fortunate enough to bring a little of the country lifestyle back into my life. With my sons off to college, we decided to add 3 horses to our lives. Crazy?
After having these wonderful animals with us everyday of our lives for a year getting to ride them, train them and just watch them in the pastures, it kind of like the dream story you always hear. But, in owning 1,300 pound beasts, you have to manage, feed and care for them too. That costs time, money and many other people involved.
So, what does any person that has been in the software business for 25 years do? You look for an app to help manage with all that. And I found exactly nothing that I would like to use. Oh, I found some 90’s looking applications, but basically nothing. So, I started out just creating something to help me manage around my barn. But once I got going and sharing with my new equestrian friends, many of them convinced me to make it so they could use it and connect to the horses too.
After doing my research, I found the following
- Over 9.2 million horses in the United States
- 7.1 million people in the United States involved in the equine business
- 1.4 million full-time jobs
- $112.1 billion dollar eonomic impact
Sure, this is no Facebook or Snapchat startup opportunity, but who is even trying for that anymore? Sometimes looking in odd places develop great new business opportunities if you structured it right for the audience. It’s powerful and allow people to stay connected in the care and enjoyment of these wonderful horses through an app on their phones.

When I launched Atlas Insights in the middle of January 2017, I wasn’t sure what the uptake would be on a new mobile business intelligence solution in the marketplace. Tableau has a lite client, Microsoft has PowerBI client for its dashboards, but would an entrant be worthy enough to jump into the mix?
After 7 months, Atlas Insights just broke a major milestone of over 500 installs! That is pretty amazing considering we don’t have the budget that Tableau and Microsoft can spend to build a brand. The goal was “not to be the first to the market with a product, just make it the better than the rest”. Atlas Insights is completely different because we focus on a mobile-1st experience with actionable data, first and foremost, while other makes you wade through a sea of dashboards trying to figure out what each chart means.
That’s a powerful statement. Just how long do you spend staring at a dashboard trying to figure out what it means and what you can to do with it? Too long.
