The Business Scorecard Manager Compatibility Release

Microsoft is releasing an update to Business Scorecard Manager 2005.  Below is an excerpt from the release I have received.  You should be able to download the update via the Microsoft PerformancePoint web site.

Overview

The Business Scorecard Manager Compatibility Release is now available for the following languages:

  • English
  • Chinese (Simplified)
  • Japanese
  • German

This Compatibility Release will be available for the following languages in February:

  • Chinese (Traditional)
  • Danish
  • French
  • German
  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Polish
  • Spanish
  • Swedish

Issues that the Compatibility Release fixes

This Compatibility Release fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

  • When you install Business Scorecard Manager 2005 on a computer that also has Microsoft Office Share Point Server 2007 or Microsoft Windows Share Point Services installed, the Setup program does not detect an extended site. Therefore, the Setup program is not completed successfully.

Note This Compatibility Release enables users to install the Business Scorecard Manager 2005 Web Parts to a Microsoft Office Share Point Server 2007 site or a Microsoft Windows Share Point Services site. This Compatibility Release does not fix the deployment functionality that is provided in the Business Scorecard Manager Builder. To deploy a Web Part, you must publish the Scorecard in the Business Scorecard Manager Builder, and then manually open the Web page and add the required Scorecard Web Parts.

Compatibility Release information

The Compatibility Release for Business Scorecard Manager 2005 is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

The media will be sent out in the VL KIT shipments for the first 4 languages in the March2007 VL KIT. Customers can now download the bits for the first 4 languages through the MVLS download.

Also the Compatibility Release is available on MSDN and TechNet.

Prerequisites

The following list contains prerequisites for the Compatibility Release:

  • You must remove Business Scorecard Manager 2005 from the computer before you install the Compatibility Release. To remove Business Scorecard Manager 2005, use Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel.

Note Removing Business Scorecard Manager 2005 from the computer does not remove the Scorecards, database, or other Business Scorecard Manager 2005 files you created.

  • If you install the Compatibility Release on a computer that also has Microsoft Office Share Point Server 2007 or Microsoft Windows Share Point Services installed, the Application Pool of the Business Scorecard Manager Web service should be selected such that the Application Pool does not run any .Net 2.0 sites.

For example, create a separate Application Pool for the Business Scorecard Manager Web service and assign this Application Pool only to the Business Scorecard Manager Web site.

Note If the Application Pool that is running the Business Scorecard Manager Web site also runs a .Net 2.0 site, there will be process conflicts and neither of the Web sites will function as expected.
