Using a Spreadsheet as Data Source with Hundreds of KPIs

If you are using a spreadsheet as your data source, which will probably occur when you first start out, that spreadsheet might have repeating KPI names throughout the spreadsheet.  The work around for still using that spreadsheets is to put some Primary Keys into the spreadsheet.   Any example is shown in the below image.

  1. Add a new column to the far left in the spreadsheet.
  2. In this column, put in unique values that will represent the primary key for that KPI.
  3. Make sure you give the column a name like KPI or whatever you wish.
  4. Protect and Hide the column if you do not wish to show it or have it accidentally changed.

Now you can reference that KPI directly and use that spreadsheet to get up and running quickly.
